MOMA’s Bauhaus Exhibit

For the first time since 1938, the Museum of Modern Art in New York City is mounting a major exhibition on the Bauhaus movement, the avant-garde art movement in Germany that was shut down by the Nazis in 1933. “Bauhaus 1919 - 1933: Workshops for Modernity” opens November 8, 2009 and goes through January 25, 2010 with more than 400 works, many of them never seen in the United States. It’s a show of industrial design, graphic art, textiles, paintings, ceramics, and much more by such artists as Anni Albers, Marcel Breuer, Vasily Kandinsky, Pail Klee, and Oskar Schlemmer.
